Environmental Protection

We are promoting activities to control environmental impacts based on our corporate social responsibility to minimize environmental impacts in all stages of our product lifecycle, ranging from development to manufacturing and disposal. We have prepared various measures from the viewpoints of environmental protection, disaster prevention, labor safety, workplace hygiene, and safety of chemicals and finished products. Moreover, we are constantly improving our environmental protection programs through the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle.

Basic Policy

We are committed to the Responsible Care initiative by proactively contributing to the preservation and beautification of the environment, through our business activities of creating attractive colors and spaces while conserving materials and resources. Individuals at Nippon Paint Group recognize this as their own mission and responsibility, and cooperate to build trustworthy relationships with our customers, local community and entire world.

We will pay due attention to preserving the global environment and protecting ecosystems, while striving to conserve energy and other resources in the course of all of our business activities.

We will advance the development of products with low environmental impact and of technologies that reduce this impact. We will also pay due attention to the environment, safety and health at all stages of a product's lifecycle, from development to disposal.

We will work to reduce the impact of operations on the environment, and to secure the safety and health of local residents and employees.

Four Activities for Global Environmental Protection

All of our domestic operation sites have obtained ISO14001 certification, and are promoting the following environmental protection activities.

Introducing products for the sake of reducing environmental impact, and promoting in the markets

To promote the widespread use of eco-friendly products, promoting the markets of organic
tin-free lectro-deposition paint,
electro-deposition paint for automotive parts with long-term durability, water-based 3-wet coating, heat shield resistant paint, low-temperature curing paint,
clear paint that cures at a low temperature in a short time, and UV-curable coatings, thereby contributing to energy-saving and the elimination of toxic substances that cause grave concern.

Prevention of global warming Reducing CO2 emissions and energy consumption

Introducing co-generation systems, replacing conventional lighting with LED lighting,
changing operating conditions of compressors, boilers, chillers,
etc., and temperature control of air conditioning.

Protection of air, water and soil environments

Implementing appropriate management to preserve the air, water and soil environments, and observing the environmental laws and regulations.

Reduction of industrial waste generated

Promoting the 3Rs initiatives (to Reduce waste and Reuse and Recycle resources) and converting industrial waste into valuable resources.
Properly selecting waste treatment companies to ensure the appropriate disposal of industrial waste, monitoring and auditing for proper disposal, and securing the proper storage and disposal of PCB waste.
